I’m one of those people who didn’t get it. My expectations some 40 years ago were way off – after all, I first saw Fred Halsted’s L.A. Plays Itself at the Nob Hill, not at some highfalutin Art Film Institute. Even if the setting had been appropriate, I probably wouldn’t have dug the flick....
